How to Communicate the Most Effectively with Your Coaches, Parents, and Players

You know better than anyone, things come up last minute in youth sports and they can cause what feels like chaos. As the person behind the desk running the show, sometimes you can’t get out to the field at that moment to communicate an important message that could clear everything up. Even if you can, there are parents, kids, and coaches involved—and even your megaphone can’t reach all of them.
Picture this: It’s a Saturday afternoon and you have three basketball programs holding practices today. Typically, they’d be in your facility, but you’re having the floors renovated so they’re practicing a few miles away in a local high school gym. Just before practice starts, the power in the high school gym goes out and the hoops can’t be lowered. Great.
Now you have three different coaches calling you at once, kids texting their parents to get picked up because “practice is canceled”, parents texting your coaches wondering why they have to pick their kids up, all before you can get out the message of your backup, backup plan (which for the record, you obviously have). This is just one of the many examples of why effective communication in youth sports is so important.
So, you go to start a group text message with all three coaches and parents to let them know practice does not have to be canceled and that the middle school gym down the road has not lost power. The only problem is, you don’t have half of the phone numbers you need.
Enter Announcements.
LeagueApps’ newest feature lets you blast everyone you need to reach with an urgent message that will send as an email and a featured message on their Play App or branded app. This will allow you to clear all confusion at once—all you have to do is filter by the programs and people you’d like to message and hit send.
These messages will also appear as push notifications on your team members’ phones so they won’t be missed. And you can include hyperlinks in these Announcements too!
Not all Announcements will be last minute—you can also use the feature to send out important team information like schedules, upcoming programs and event information, fundraisers, and even merchandise information.
