Increase Participation by Making the Most of Your Youth Sports Marketing Efforts

Long gone are the days of solely relying on word of mouth marketing. The competition is fiercer—youth sports organizations are pouring time, money, and creativity into marketing campaigns across social media, email, mail, and more. If you’re not, you could be falling behind and missing out on a great deal of new customers.
But with that said, if you’re putting the time and money into a marketing campaign, you want it to work! If your marketing efforts aren’t converting to registrations, you may be losing customers after they create an account, or even on the payments page.
Think about it: Parents are busy—sometimes one task gets abandoned for another, and they may need a little nudge to remember to complete that task.
LeagueApps Analytics’ newest report—Abandoned Registrations—is going to help you provide that nudge to almost customers by helping you determine when they are dropping off, so you can target them with specific efforts to get them over the line. Here’s how.
What is the Abandoned Registrations report?
The newest LeagueApps Analytics report, Abandoned Registrations, allows you to see which customers created an account but didn’t complete their registration, as well as those who made it to the payments step and didn’t follow through.
The data in this report is available across your organization and for individual or multiple sites within your organization.
Why is this report useful to me?
Have you ever left something in your cart while online shopping, and received an email from the brand asking, “have you forgotten something?” This report will help you do something very similar with customers who have almost (but not quite) completed a registration.
This report will allow you to directly target abandoned registrants in your marketing campaigns, better track the return on investment (ROI) of your marketing campaigns to see conversions of previously abandoned registrants, and offer discount codes or payment plans to help convert abandoned registrants.
In other words, by using this report, you can focus your marketing efforts on the customers who are most likely to convert—wasting less time and money on marketing and increasing your program participation and overall revenue.
How do I use this report?
If you’re a LeagueApps user, this report lives within your Reports under the Analytics header. You’ll find it under Registrations & Members. (If you’re lost, watch the beginning of this video).
The Abandoned Registrations Report has two main charts—the Abandoned Users chart and the Abandoned Registrations chart.
The Abandoned Users chart allows you to see all potential participants who created an account but never completed a registration.
The Abandoned Registrations chart allows you to see participants who completed enough of registration where an invoice was created for a specific program, but did not pay.
Both charts can be filtered by name, email, program name, site name, and more, or export either chart from LeagueApps Analytics. To make your targeted marketing efforts as easy as possible, upload the abandoned registrants’ contact info to your marketing platform of choice (like MailChimp or Hubspot). This allows you to directly follow up with these users at the cadence of your choice and offer them program discounts to incentivize them to complete their registration.
