Last Saturday, March 19th, LeagueApps hosted Ballin’ for Charity, a 3v3 charity basketball tournament at Basketball City located at Pier 36 in the Lower East Side! Half of the tournament proceeds were benefitting Positive Coaching Alliance, a national nonprofit dedicated to developing “Better Athletes, Better People.” The other half of the proceeds were benefitting the winning team’s charity picks. Together we raised over a gross profit of $10,000!
32 teams came out to compete in either the Recreational Division or the Competitive Division. Some of the companies who came out to participate include: Fundera, Palantir, Studio Rodrigo, Steady Buckets, Booker Software, and the list goes on!

We’d like to congratulate our two winning teams for finishing at the top of their brackets: Krossover and Steady Buckets!
Team Krossover finished at the top of the Competitive Division. Krossover’s charity of choice is Crossover Basketball and Scholars Academy, a non-profit 501(c)3 international education program in India that leverages athletic values and skill as a means to develop academic opportunities for Indian students. Our donation will fund over 15 children’s participation in the program.
Team Steady Buckets finished at the top of our Recreation Division and their charity of choice is the Steady Buckets Foundation whose core focus is on the long-term and holistic development of the individual. Our donation will cover multiple hours of NYC gym space for participants, team uniforms and an entire year of basketball training for one player.
Each participant was guaranteed 3 games before advancing to the tournament bracket of their division. In between the pool play games and the tournament bracket we also hosted a huge game of “Knock Out” where Team Coach Up was announced our Skills Champions for the day! The objective of “Knock Out” is to make free throws in order to survive, while at the same time, eliminating the other players.
We raffled off two Brooklyn Nets Basketball Tickets with a face value of $350 each! Brandon Bermeo from Team Steady Buckets won the two raffle tickets! He is excited to head over to Barclays center to enjoy the game on Wednesday, April 13th.
The Namely Balliebers were announced our “Most Spirited Team” as they sported shirts with both Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez’ faces on them! It doesn’t get much better than Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.
As a sports management software solution, we at LeagueApps were able to put ourselves in our partner’s’ shoes this past Saturday. We felt the pain of registrations that come in last minute, we felt the glory of putting together like minded individuals, and we felt the passion for why we do what we do everyday — because we love sports. We hope to continue to build upon our mission of ensuring that everyone has access to amazing sport experiences.
Thank you to all the participants who came out to play this past Saturday — without you we wouldn’t have reached our fundraising goal! We appreciate all our volunteers who came early and stayed late. And a final special thanks goes out to our MVP Sponsor, Capify, as well as our tremendous team of All-Star sponsors, including the NBA, Cushman & Wakefield, Warby Parker, Lyft, Contour Ventures, and Red Sea Venture Partners.
