Formed in September of 2016, Cleveland Youth Basketball will enrich the basketball experience of those with disabilities who don’t have the same opportunities as many other children.

It was founded by Jon Cupo after getting his USA Basketball coaching license.

“It was one of those things where I’m right in the middle of the mecca of youth basketball. There’s a ton of really good players here that get a lot of attention,” Jon said.

“But there are a lot more kids who don’t get as much of that attention.”

With the help of Kids Kicking Cancer, Jon will be hosting a Jr. NBA Skills Challenge on January 28th for children in the Cleveland area that are suffering from multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and other disabilities.

According to the University of Rochester Medical Center, nearly 18% of all children in the US have a disability or chronic disease. Jon sees this as an opportunity to give back to the local community.

“I’m not a charity guy, but this is my chance to give kids the opportunity to be themselves.”

Jon needs your help to get his league off to a solid start. He is offering Executive Suite tickets for a February 27th, 2017 game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The winner will also receive a $1000 food and drink credit as well as two parking passes.

“I just want to get those kids to play. They have more heart and better attitudes than most kids on a daily basis.”
